Shane, an Army Veteran, loves going to work every day as a corporate pilot, flying individuals, business execs, and celebrities around the world. An interior designer and entrepreneur, Betsy enjoys home design, marketing and crawfish! More on that later…
Both love boating and spending time on the water. While boating was convenient in the rural area of Louisiana where they lived, the airport was over an hour away, and stores were also a trek. Betsy, a Georgia native, missed the conveniences of living closer to a city and started looking for places they would both enjoy calling home.
A Fly-In Community Near a Boat Launch – A Dream Come True
Once arriving on the Gulf Coast, Betsy and Shane fell in love with the area and the people they met while visiting. A huge draw was the location, amenities and ease of travel with Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport and Louis Armstrong New Orleans Airport within a short drive. Imagine their delight in finding a home in Diamondhead within a block from the water to dock their boat in an airport community. Not only is it an airport community, but the house also came with an airplane hangar and runway in their backyard, now known as “The Shanger.”

While almost perfect, the home needed Betsy’s interior design touches to get it just right. Luckily the Mississippi Gulf Coast offers more affordable home prices, leaving a budget to tweak the house to get it just right.
