DESIGNING A FUNCTIONAL MUDROOM

What do you need to store in your mudroom? Do you need a place for jackets and shoes? A place to hang wet umbrellas? A place to put dirty laundry? Once you know what you need to store, you can start to design your mudroom around those needs. With so much to do on the Secret Coast, it’s a great idea to have also storage for outdoor toys, beach towels and more. Here are a few tips for designing a functional mud room to help keep things organized.

Consider The Size Of Your Space

The size of your mudroom will dictate the type of furniture and storage solutions you can use. If you have a small mudroom, you’ll want to choose furniture and storage solutions that are compact and efficient.

Choose Durable Materials

Your mudroom will likely get a lot of traffic, so you’ll want to choose durable materials for the floors, walls, and furniture. Consider using materials like hardwood floors, tile, or vinyl, and select furniture that is made from sturdy materials like wood or metal.

Add Seating

A bench or a few chairs are essential in any mudroom. This will give you a place to sit down while you put on your shoes or take them off. It can also be used for storing extra shoes or coats.

Install Hooks And Shelves

Hooks and shelves are essential for storing coats, hats, and bags. You’ll also want to install a shelf for keys and other small items.

Add A Mirror

A mirror is a great way to make your mudroom feel larger and brighter. Use it to check your appearance before you leave the house.

Keep It Clean

A mudroom can quickly become cluttered, so it’s important to keep it clean. Sweep and mop the floors regularly, and wipe down the walls and furniture.

A mudroom is a great place to add a personal touch to your home. Hang some family photos, add some plants, or choose a rug that reflects your style.
